Oh my god, why is the MacBook so much better than a PC?
I picked up a new MacBook today. The high-end one, black with all sorts of awesome stuff. It's not only the most beautiful computer I've ever laid eyes on or used, but it's also the easiest, most intuitive operating system I think I'll ever see in my lifetime.
You know, they say that once you go Mac you never go back. Or something like that. And I think it's true, because I don't see how I could go back to using a PC after having this bad boy.
What albums are in heavy rotation for you right now?
There's actually nothing as far as albums go in heavy rotation for me right now, but I'll say that the new single "When You Were Young" from The Killers is STILL getting tons and tons of play for me.
I haven't even opened my iTunes as of late, simply because I've been using Pandora more and more.
I just finished uploading all the pictures I took during my tour of Iraq in 2003 and 2004
to my Flickr account. Actually, it's not technically ALL of them; there
were quite a few I had to refrain from posting due to Geneva
Conventions laws and operational security. I've dealt enough with the
guys in Army Public Affairs (hi, sirs!) to be careful what I post.
There's a lot of crap pictures, but there's also a ton of really good photos of Saddam's palace in Tikrit, a gigantic mushroom cloud after engineers blew up over 600 mortar rounds at once, two Iraqis showing off their donkey, and more.
I'm watching RV. It's awful, but it's better than sitting here watching the paint dry.
I spent most of the day today in the studio doing some mixing on the worship record. We tracked this album over two years ago, and I never thought I'd be able to make it sound fresh, but it's getting there. I'll post some samples on my new MySpace page whenever I get stuff finished up, probably sometime early next month. I'll be back in the studio tomorrow and probably a little bit on Saturday, as well.
Of course, tomorrow night is Snakes On A Plane. I'm going to head up to
the Alamo Drafthouse sometime in the early afternoon and pick up
tickets, because I have no idea if it's going to sell out.
Judging by blogosphere reaction, it's gonna be a huge flick, but those
outside of the blogosphere have no idea about the movie and even less
of a desire to see it. I'm practically dragging people to see it with
me, so I hope it delivers.
If you're the praying type, or if you're remotely of the belief that positive thoughts can help out a negative situation, I ask that you pray or send out positive thoughts towards my little 2nd cousin Cade. He's the little guy pictured on the left. He has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and was scheduled to have his 2nd major heart procedure on the 24th, but they took him to the doctor this morning after he's been acting sluggish the past few days and his spO2 (oxygen level in his blood) was sitting at 60%, which is alarmingly low. They decided to have the surgery tomorrow morning.
I spent all day yesterday with the little fella, and he's having surgery at 6am tomorrow, so again, we'd appreciate all the prayers and support you can send out.
Just got a call back from the camera repair store in Houston, and the damage is going to be $165.24 for the repairs. That's all well and good, because I was just waiting on the estimate to tell me that it was going to cost something like $500 to fix it, so 165 bucks is nothing. But it's going to take TWO WEEKS for it to be fixed, and then another week for it to be shipped to me up at Fort Hood.
I just hope it's back before I leave for Kuwait.
I've decided that women are either purposefully evil or blissfully unaware that they are insane.
(Note: the above statement is not a blanket statement about all women but rather a token of my frustration with one (beautiful, amazing but insane) member of the female race. I'd share more, but it's definitely friends/family only material. Actually it may be nobody material).
Please, for the love of all things holy, do not go see Pulse. I cannot recall seeing a worse film at any point over the past five years. If I HAD seen a worse movie, the memories were wiped away by the hour and a half I spent uncomfortably wondering why I'd agreed to go see the movie in the first place. I'd never seen a trailer for the film and never read any reviews, so I had no idea what the flick was about, but suffice to say it probably looked a lot more interesting distilled into 30 seconds of suspenseful trailer work than it did as a full feature.
Kristin Bell was, by far, the only redeeming quality of this flick, but even she wasn't enough to save it. Or even make it remotely good. It's a sure sign that a flick is gonna be a stinker when they don't even screen it for critics.
My car is headed into the shop tomorrow to get a new engine installed. I spent today detailing the interior and it looks as good as it has since it was new. I still need a bit of body work done, but it looks great for the most part. Once I get the car down to the shop, I'll be headed out to get pricing estimates on a stereo installation, then over to check out some rims and tires. Honky (my affectionate term for the car) is going to look great once I'm done.
I'm going home for leave tomorrow morning, and as such will be "off the grid" for two weeks or so. I'll be available via email or cell, but I won't be checking it more than once a day or so. I have a lot of work to do on my car and I want to spend time with the sisters before Texas A&M starts school again this semester, so I don't want a lot of distractions keeping me from doing that stuff.
If it's an emergency, call the cell or send me a text message.
